Our Business Activity Statement Services

Our team of expert accountants manage BAS lodgements for businesses of all sizes. With seamless reviews, professional assessments and fast turnarounds, you can rest easy knowing that our expert accountants are working to maximise your claimable GST credits and complete your BAS lodgements on time

Why does my business need to lodge a Business Activity Statement (BAS)?

If your annual GST business income exceeds or is likely to exceed $75,000, then you are required to report and lodge a quarterly BAS with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO).

A quarterly BAS will report business revenue to the ATO for the quarter, along with GST on your income and expenses. It will result in either a GST refund (if GST-related expenses exceed the GST-related income) or a GST payable (if GST-related income exceeds GST-related expenses).

Your BAS will also report any employee wages and PAYG withholding tax.

By lodging your BAS through a registered tax agent such as DK Partners, you will get an additional one month to lodge and make payments to the ATO, which can be great for helping your business with cash flow.

Business Activity Statements FAQs

A Business Activity Statement (BAS) is an electronic form submitted to the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) by registered business entities. A business is required to report all its tax obligations through BAS lodgement.

Business Activity Statements report the following to the ATO;

  • Goods & Services Tax (GST)
  • Pay As You Go withholding (PAYGW)
  • Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT)
  • Wine Equalisation Tax (WET)
  • Luxury Car Tax (LCT)

The easiest way to lodge your BAS is online with DK Partners; we ensure a hassle-free process the whole way through.

You will need reconciled bank accounts to report accurate figures in your BAS. We’re here to help you prepare bank reconciliation through our online bookkeeping service.

Your BAS reporting and payment cycle will be one of the below;

  • Quarterly – if your GST turnover is less than $20 million.
  • Monthly – if your GST turnover exceeds $20 million.
  • Annually – if you’re registered for GST, and your GST turnover is under $75,000 ($150,000 for non-for-profit entities).

For cash-flow purposes, if you are in a GST-refundable position, it’s best to lodge your BAS as early as possible so that you can receive GST credits (also known as a BAS refund).

For cash-flow purposes, if you are in a GST-payable position, it’s best to lodge on the due date and delay the payment until then

For the 2021-22 financial year, the BAS lodgment due dates are as follows;

  • For quarter 1 (July, August and September), BAS lodgements and payments are due on the 28th of October.
  • For quarter 2 (October, November and December), BAS lodgements and payments are due on the 28th of February.
  • For quarter 3 (January, February and March), BAS lodgements and payments are due on the 28th of April.
  • For quarter 4 (April, May and June), BAS lodgements and payments are due on the 28th of July.

If you hand your BAS lodgement obligations to DK Partners, you’ll be entitled to a 1-month due date extension for BAS lodgement and payment, which is very beneficial for your business cash flow.

Preparing and lodging your BAS can get quite complicated.

The team at DK Partners ensures that you don’t miss out on any potential GST deductions or the BAS lodgment deadline.

Using DK Partners to lodge your BAS also ensures that your BAS lodgement is accurate. If the ATO decides to conduct a BAS audit, you won’t get any unexpected surprises.

You are only required to lodge a BAS once your business has registered for the GST.

GST registration is required when your gross business turnover exceeds $75,000.

If you are a not-for-profit, the turnover requirement is $150,000.

Some industries are automatically required to register for GST, including ride-share drivers (Uber, Ola, taxi drivers, etc.).

To describe it in a few words; quick, straightforward & hassle-free.

To get started, simply fill in the enquiry form on this page, and our friendly team will be in touch within 24 hours to assist you.

Usually, DK Partners can have your BAS professionally prepared, reviewed and lodged within 2 business days.
